Working closely with the Board, Division Coordinators, Field Scheduler and Treasurer, the Umpire in Chief plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and fairness of games within the league, ensuring that umpires are well-prepared and equipped to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Responsibilities include:

• Overall coordination of the league umpire program.
• Recruiting, reviewing, and retaining a list of league umpires.
• Establishing and implementing an umpire training program for umpires consistent with Little League® guidelines.
• Communicating with umpires to determine general availability and special requests.
• Working with the Field Scheduler to assign and schedule umpires as necessary.
• Working with the Treasurer to ensure umpires are compensated for their assigned games.
• Communicating with coaches asking them to keep you in the loop regarding canceled games, makeup games, playoff games, etc.
• Acting as a referral point for coaches and umpires in the interpretation of rules.
• Attend umpire training programs at the district, province, and region levels.
• Develop and present an umpire training plan and budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
